How to Install a Custom Trainer Card Into a Pokemon Game

Trainer cards are used in the Pokemon trading card game, playing a supportive role. Although these cards cannot be used for direct attacking or to power an attack, they allow you to search through your deck, place your cards for easier access, revive a Pokemon or remove energy from your rival Pokemon. Standard trainer cards include the Poke Ball and the Rare Candy. You can also design your own trainer card and include them in your Pokemon deck.

Instructions

  Visit a webpage that allows you to design your own Pokemon trainer card. MapleTowers and PokeStadium both offer this service.

  Enter a name for your trainer card. Choose the card color and the background image. Decide if you want the sprite, or image on the card, to be male or female.

  Choose a number of achievement stars for your trainer card. Select the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh badges you want to add to the card. These badges are usually earned by defeating a Pokemon Gym leader and are needed to qualify for certain Pokemon leagues.

  Click on the create button. The website will generate as a PNG image you can save to your computer by right-clicking on the card and selecting "save as" from the drop menu. Open the file with an image editor and print it. You can now use the card as part of your Pokemon deck.
