How to Create MTG Cards

Magic: the Gathering, or MTG, is a collectible card game which puts you in the place of a sorcerer commanding an army head-to-head against his foes. Your sorcerer draws magic from the lands he controls, summons minions and sends wave upon wave of magic and monsters to fight. There are hundreds of cards that collectors can acquire, but it's also possible to make your own cards, whether they're for fun, or simply to practice your Magic skills with an existing card's rules.

Instructions

    • 1

Load a Magic card creator website, such as Construct a Card.com (see Resources). You have the option of creating an account, which allows you to save your cards on their website.

    • 2

Input the information about the card on the creator application. Click to select how much mana the card requires to summon. Input a name for the card, its type, and any text you want to appear on the card. Flavor text is the italicized quote which sometimes appears on the cards. Use the drop-down menu to select its color and rarity.

    • 3

Click the "Choose file" button to select a picture from your computer to upload as the image on the card. Browse for and select the picture, then use the handles on the cropping box to select the area that appears on the card.

    • 4

Click the "Preview Card" button to create the card. It will appear on the page to the right of the mana types box.

    • 5

Right-click the card image and select "Save as..." to download the image to your computer. If you have logged in, you can also save the card to your account.

    • 6

Print out the image from your computer. Cut out the image and paste it to the front of a spare Magic card that you don't need.
