How to Choose Chaos Marines Paint Colors

The Warhammer 40K tabletop game allows players to assemble, paint and play with their own armies against other players. One of these armies consists of Chaos Space Marines. Choosing the right color scheme can be tricky, especially if you want to find the exact colors that traditional Black Legion Chaos Space Marines wear.

  Acquire a can of primer spray paint in Chaos Black. This can be applied to your Chaos Space Marine models and act as a base color. You can acquire this and all your model paint at any hobby store.

  Select which colors you'd like to incorporate into the Chaos Marines' armor and weapons. Red Blood, Red Gore, Desert Yellow, Shining Gold, Kommando Khaki, Dwarf Bronze, Graveyard Earth, Chestnut Ink, Skull White, Bleached Bone, Mithril Silver, Chainmail, Bolt Gun Metal, Codex Grey and Braazen Brass are the recommended colors to choose from. You can use as many or as few as you'd like, but the more you use, the more depth your painted characters will have.

  Use all the similar shades together, such as Bleached Bone and Skull White or Bolt Gun Metal and Codex Grey. Use the grays on top of each other for the weapons, highlighting with the whites. You can paint the embellishments on the armor whatever colors you'd like from the reds, yellows and browns. There isn't a right or wrong color scheme to choose.
