How to Create Your Own Power Ranger

Watching the Power Rangers on television is only half of the fun. Why not create your own character and have an exciting adventure as well? You'll be able to play with your friends, attend conventions, and (if feeling bold) maybe try a hand at homemade film-making. All you need is your imagination, an afternoon and some basic knowledge of the series.

  1. How to Create Your Own Power Ranger

    • 1

Draw or write a description of your Power Ranger, including his or her main color. Remember that red, blue, yellow, black, orange, pink, white, green, silver, cyan, violet, "aluminum silver," mercury, indigo, titanium, steel blue, crimson, gold and navy are already taken by official characters.

    • 2

Describe any secondary colors you want. Some characters have multiple colors, such as Zhane, the Silver Space Ranger, whose suit is silver with green accents. You can choose three or more colors, if you like.

    • 3

Choose, draw or explain any emblems or insignia associated with your Ranger. Many of the characters, particularly Ranger allies, have certain symbols associated with them. For example, Blue Senturion has red, yellow and blue traffic symbols on his chest. Leanbow's emblem is a W, and he has shoulder pads shaped like the head of a wolf.

    • 4

Write out a description of your Morpher, and a background story if you choose. These are the devices the Power Rangers use to "morph" into their superhuman forms. Though this is often a wrist band, it can be any item. You also need to develop the "morphing call" that you speak to activate the morpher's powers. It can be a phrase or a sequence of "magical" words.

    • 5

Describe your weapons. Every Power Ranger has a Blade Blaster, the standard Ranger weapon that could be used as a blaster or a shortsword. In addition, each Ranger has a Power Weapon, a special weapon given to them which can be combined with the Blade Blaster for more powerful attacks. For example, Trini (the Yellow Ranger in the "Mighty Morphin" series) has a set of Power Daggers, while the Black Ranger in that series, Zack, has a Power Axe that can convert into an energy cannon.

    • 6

Draw and explain your Zord. Every Ranger has a Zord, a massive animal-shaped machine to help battle enemies or monsters on a large scale. Each incarnation of the series features its own specific type of Zord, so if you are creating a Ranger inspired by a particular version of the show, refer to that show for guidance. Otherwise, you're free to make up your own.

    • 7

If playing with friends, put your Zords together and write or draw a Megazord to battle the most powerful of monsters.

    • 8

Write out your storyline and background. Most of the characters in the series have backgrounds and stories describing how they ended up as Power Rangers. If you intend to pursue your Rangerhood seriously and attend conventions, having a final version written down may help.
