Things You'll Need
Instructions
Craft a history for your character that gives an explanation of how your character generally acts and why he acts that way. Decide what sort of elven family your character comes from, if he lived in a predominately elven city or a human one and how his interactions with other races have been in the past.
Keep in mind that all elves have a proclivity for the arts, such as singing, playing instruments, writing poetry and especially working magic in the form of spells and rituals.
Think of the big picture at all times and act according to that idea rather than to immediate issues or small changes, as elves have incredibly long life spans that alter how they view the world.
Be more isolated and aloof towards humans and half-elves and be less likely to form strong bonds with them, as they will die hundreds of years before your character, so you won't want to become too strongly attached to them.
Take time to plan out strategies and consider all options, and never rush into anything unprepared.
Use an elf's long lifespan as a rationalization for vile acts if you are playing an evil character. You can rationalize that killing a human isn't a bad thing because they would have died in another thirty or forty years anyway, and definitely wouldn't have had any real impact on the world.
