How to Make Arrows on Runescape

Making arrows in Runescape is part of the skill known as “fletching”. Fletching allows players to create their own ranging weapons and ammunition. Making arrows is also a quick way to gain fletching experience and to make money. Arrows can be sold to archery shops, on the Grand Exchange, and to other players.

Instructions

  1. Gather the Tools and Materials That You Will Need

    • 1

Log into your Runescape game account.

    • 2

Go to the nearest banking establishment and empty all of the contents of your backpack into your banking account

    • 3

Check your account's inventory to see if you have a woodcutting axe. You will need an axe to chop down trees to get logs. If you do not have an axe, you can purchase one from Bob's Axe Shop in Lumbridge or at the Grand Exchange just northwest of Varrock. Or you can make one, if you have the materials and smithing level required to do so.

    • 4

Check your account's inventory for a knife. This is just a “knife”, it's not a specialty item, such as a “throwing knife”. You will need this to cut wood logs into arrow shafts. If you do not have one, you may purchase one from the Grand Exchange, or from various stores, like the food shops at the Tree Gnome Stronghold. Or you can pick one up for free from the table just inside the door of the Lumbridge Castle kitchen.

    • 5

Get feathers. You can buy them from fishing shops or at the Grand Exchange. You can also kill chickens, which will drop feathers when they die. If you're a lower level, they are excellent for training melee, and they also drop raw chicken. You can cook the raw chicken, which will add decent food to your inventory, and also give you cooking experience. Chickens can be found at Fred's Farm northwest of Lumbridge, the farms south of Falador and on the road between Lumbridge and Varrock, at the Champion's Guild, East of Ardougne Pier, and in Hemenster, which is northwest of the Ranging Guild.

    • 6

Collect arrow tips by either purchasing them at an archery store or the Grand Exchange, or you can smith them yourself at an anvil if you have the right materials and smithing level to do so. Arrow tips are stackable.

    • 7

Return to the bank and empty all of the contents of your inventory into your account. Withdraw the woodcutting axe and the knife.

    • 8

Cut logs by using the axe on any normal tree, but do not use willow, maple or oak. Fill your backpack inventory with these logs, which are not stackable. You will receive woodcutting experience while you are doing this.

    Assemble Your Arrows

    • 9

Use the knife on each of the logs. Each log will make 15 arrow shafts, which are stackable.

    • 10

Go back to the bank. Deposit the knife and the axe. Withdraw the feathers and the arrow tips. You still have the arrow shafts in your backpack.

    • 11

Use the feathers on the arrow shafts. You now have headless arrows.

    • 12

Use the arrow tips on the headless arrows to create completed arrows.
