How to Create a Healing Cleric for Dungeons & Dragons

Clerics are arguably the most important character in any Dungeons &Dragons game. Without them, the characters have no ability to heal after a fight. The problem is that, like any character class, a cleric can be built well or can be a detriment to the party. One of the keys to making a good cleric is making one that can heal all the members of the party back to maximum hit points and will do it without whining about it. A well-planned cleric can be a great asset to any adventuring party.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose a deity. Several of the different deities offer the healing domain for their clerics, which makes clerics better at healing. Among the best deities for healers are the sun gods, Lathander or Pelor, depending on the world you are playing in.

    • 2

Take "Augment Healing" as one of your primary feats. This feat allows your cleric to heal as though he were a higher level. At even first-level cleric spells, this means the cleric is healing more damage.

    • 3

Consider other healing-based fgeats including "Touch of Healing" which allows a cleric to simply touch an injured person and heal small numbers of hit points. Though these numbers are small there is no limit to the number of times per day the cleric may do this, so long as the person he is healing has suffered damage equal to more than half his hit points. Outside combat, this is a spell saver for a healing cleric.

    • 4

Become a "radiant servant" of whatever sun deity you worship. The radiant servant prestige class grants the cleric additional healing abilities including doing maximized, empowered healing spells.

    • 5

Play smart and self-sacrificing. Some people who play clerics are stingy with their healing spells, and it results in the death of other characters. Pay attention to the health levels of other characters and respond as quickly as possible.
