Wheel of Fortune Games to Buy

In more than a quarter-century on the air, "Wheel of Fortune" has become one of the most popular syndicated TV shows of all time. If you're not one of the few to get a chance to step up and spin the big wheel for big money, you can still enjoy the challenge of solving puzzles in the "Wheel" environment with a home version of the game. "Wheel of Fortune" games you can buy include video and computer games, mobile phone games and board games.
  1. PC Games

    • "Wheel of Fortune 2" is a downloadable game for Windows PCs and is available from Station.com. You use the mouse to spin the wheel and pick letters to earn "virtual cash." When you think you know the answer, you type it in on the keyboard. The game includes more than 2,000 puzzles and as many as three people can play. The game is compatible with Windows 98 and later.

The "Wheel of Fortune Online Game" is similar to "Wheel 2," but you play it over the Internet against other users. It's also available from Station.com for Windows 98 and later.

Station.com offers free trial downloads of both games. Follow the links from the official "Wheel of Fortune" website's games portal in the References section below.

    PlayStation

    • "Wheel of Fortune" for PlayStation 3 offers nearly 9,000 puzzles that you can play by yourself or against others online. High-definition graphics and the ability to create your own character make for a realistic game experience. To purchase, launch your PlayStation 3, go online to the PlayStation 3 Store, add "Wheel of Fortune" to your cart and check out.

    Mobile Games

    • Versions of "Wheel " are available for dozens of phone models on most major wireless carriers. They include "Wheel of Fortune Deluxe," which is the classic game; "Wheel of Fortune Road Trip," in which players take a virtual cross-country trip with city-themed puzzles and prizes; and "Wheel of Fortune for Prizes," a multiplayer game in which you compete to win real prizes, such as gift certificates. "Wheel of Fortune" is also available as a game "app" for the iPhone.

Prices and options vary by carrier, game and model. Some charge a one-time unlimited-play fee, others have a monthly subscription cost. Mobile games can be accessed through the official "Wheel" games portal.

    Board Games

    • "Wheel of Fortune" has spawned a series of board games over the years. The latest version, "Deluxe Wheel of Fortune 2nd Edition," is available from Pressman Toys. It comes with a plastic wheel and game board modeled after the real thing. The game includes 160 puzzles, each on a cardboard sheet that you slip into the game board. You can also play "host" and make up your own puzzle sheets to challenge your friends.

Earlier "Wheel" board game versions can often be found on Amazon and eBay.

    Electronic Game

    • The "Wheel of Fortune Electronic Game Platinum Edition" from Irwin Toy has 1,500 puzzles. This tabletop game displays puzzles on an LCD screen and features a talking "host," music and applause.
