How to Clean a Vintage Vinyl Doll

Vintage vinyl dolls tend to get dirty and dingy with time. Fingerprints and regular use may cause discoloration of the material. Even dolls that are sitting on display should be cleaned regularly. Fortunately, vinyl is an easy material to clean and restore. The process only requires a few common household items.

  • Mild dish detergent
  • Baking soda
  • Extra soft toothbrush
  • Cotton swabs

      Mix a small amount of dish soap with warm water in the sink.

      Submerge the doll and scrub gently with an extra soft toothbrush. Use cotton swabs to clean any small areas such as the eyes and ears.

      Sprinkle some baking soda on any tough stains. Scrub well with the toothbrush. The mild abrasive action of baking soda will get out any deep dirt or stains.

      Rinse the doll well with clean water and dry with a soft cloth.
