Founder

• Leonard Florence was the founder of Leonard Silver. He was the eighth son of an immigrant Russian grocer.

First Silver Background

• Leonard Florence got into silver by working for Raimond Silver Manufacturing Co. in Chelsea, Massachusetts. He turned around the unprofitable company and received half the profit when it was sold in 1968.

Original Leonard Silver Company

• Leonard Silver was founded in 1969 by Florence. The original business operated from his garage in Chelsea.

Items

• Leonard Silver specialized in inexpensive silver plated hollow ware. Many of these original pieces are considered antiques now.

Bought Out

• Leonard Silver ceased being its own company in 1979 after it was bought out by Towle Silversmiths.

Modern Existence

• Leonard Silver is still made as a "product line" for the International Silver Company &Wallace Silversmiths, Inc.
