Carnival Glass
This is an inexpensive pressed glass produced by Fenton, which had an iridescent coating. It achieves its look by applying metallic salts while the glass is still hot.
Colors
Carnival glass comes in a variety of colors, such as amethyst, cobalt, green and red. Marigold is the most common color.
Patterns
Fenton glass has more than 150 patterns or designs of carnival glass.
History
Carnival glass was introduced in 1907 and was given as prizes at carnivals. After 102 years, Fenton Glass is closing its doors due to higher costs and imports.
Name
In 1950, collectors started referring to the glass as carnival glass.
