Locate Bouckville on your map. Locating this small town just off of Route 20 is the first trick; mapping a route from wherever you are is another. A wrong turn in Madison County, dotted by winding country roads, could send you miles off course.
Rent a room. You'll need to plan your trip to the Bouckville Antique Fest well in advance. Overnight accommodations aren't plentiful, so the best ones fill up early. It's not unheard-of to book a room a year in advance. A room within walking distance of the main show is ideal. It allows you to skip the traffic and parking problems and gives you a place to rest during the day.
Prepare for rain and mud. The antique show and sale goes on despite the weather. The main show takes place in large tents set up in an open field, and smaller dealers display their wares up and down all the side streets in any patch of grass where they can spread out. There's no way to avoid getting wet if it rains on the Bouckville Antique Fest.
Start early in the morning. Madison County is usually a quiet place, and Bouckville basically has one road running through it. During the Bouckville Antique Fest, the traffic is stop and go by 10:00 a.m. and remains that way until long after the show closes. Arrive early to avoid traffic delays, get prime parking, and have more time to see all of the antiques on display.
Take food and water breaks. It's easy to get caught up in the excitement of the festival. Each time you turn a corner, you realize how much more there is to see. There are a number of food vendors scattered throughout the festival. When you pass one, take a food and water break to help you maintain the energy you need to keep going all day.
