Instructions
Check the parts of the servo. Open the case and remove the gears, laying them out in the order you remove them. Clean off any old grease and re-grease the parts with servo grease. Check all the gears for broken teeth. Replace any damaged gears.
Center the servo. Remove the servo from the vehicle and check the alignment by plugging in the servo and checking each stop with the transmitter. Make sure the servo is properly seated in the vehicle and does not move around. Check the connections to be sure all the wires are going to the correct places and none of them are crossing each other.
Make sure your servo is getting enough power. Too many servos on one receiver can result in loss of transmitting power, which can cause a static or crackling sound. If you have too many servos, you can add another receiver or use a separate battery to power the servos.
Test your servo with the HPP-21 Servo Tester. Check that all the parts are functioning normally. Adjust the resolution to see if a different setting causes less noise. Adjust the power consumption and speed to lower settings. Don't disconnect the HPP-21 until all the programming is completed. Reset the servo to the factory default settings and begin again if you believe the crackle is coming from bad programming.
