How to Install an HK-500 Servo Adapter

The HK-500 servo adapter is used in radio-controlled (RC) helicopters. When used, the adapter lets a smaller-powered servo, such as those found in the TRex 450 helicopter, gain extra distance for transmitter and receiver range. Installing the adapter is a simple task that is done in minutes with a small screwdriver. This task is doable in a home workshop or out at the flying field.

Instructions

    • 1

Unscrew the socket head screws on the outside of the helicopter main frame. These are the two small retaining bolts found on the outer left-hand side of the RC helicopter.

    • 2

Remove the servo cage from the main assembly. The servo is the small black box with wires running in and out of it from the ailerons. Remove the wires off the side of the servo to find the two servo arms.

    • 3

Slide the adapter wire into the servo arms and rewire the RC helicopter wires into the servo.

    • 4

Place the servo back into the housing cage and place the cage back into the helicopter main body.

    • 5

Screw the assembly back into position and turn on the servo's receivers, and the transmitter box. Move the control stick on the transmitter to test that the servo is engaging the blades and tail rudder on the helicopter.
