How to Set Up an RC Frequency Board

RC frequency boards list all the usable airborne frequencies in the 72Mhz range. When a pilot wants to fly his plane, he must take ownership of the frequency he will be using. The frequency board and a transmitter impound prevent two transmitters from using the same frequency at the same time. The interference from a second transmitter can cause a pilot to lose control of his radio-controlled (RC) plane. As 2.4Ghz spread spectrum radios become more popular, the need for frequency boards diminishes because these radios can not interfere with each other.

Instructions

    • 1

Number 50 clothes pins from eleven to sixty; one for each frequency. Use a permanent marker to prevent the numbers from running if they get wet.

    • 2

Divide the plywood board into 50 sections and label each section in order, starting at eleven and ending at sixty. Use paint to protect the wood and make the numbers stand out.

    • 3

Attach a narrow strip of wood to the main board. Use spacers to allow the clothes pins to be attached to this strip. Divide the strip into sections that match the main board.

    • 4

Attach a numbered clothes pin and a plain clothes pin to each numbered section on the board.
