How to Turn a Hang Glider

Hang gliding is as close to flying like a bird as a person gets. Soaring high above the ground, floating through the air, is a peaceful setting to enjoy the scenery below. Hang gliding has been practiced since the 1800s, and was at the time somewhat precarious as there was not much understanding of how wind was used to hold a glider up. However, our understanding of aviation, as well as the fact that pilots are better trained and new technology has produced state-of-the art gliders, has turned hang gliding into a safe way to fly.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch your hang glider and rise a comfortable distance from the ground.

    • 2

Lean your body weight slightly to the right to turn your hang glider to the right. Lean further to the right if you want to turn more. Center your body weight to begin traveling straight again.

    • 3

Lean your body weight slightly to the left to turn your hang glider to the left. Lean further to the left if you want to turn more. Center your body weight to begin traveling straight again.
