How to Install an RC Rudder Gyro

The gyro is an electronic component that functions to maintain the stability of your radio-controlled (RC) helicopter. The gyro employs the aircraft's own controls to maintain a horizontal position relative to the ground. This helps novice pilots by preventing dramatic errors that affect flight. Learn how to install a rudder gyro to keep your vehicle flying straight.

Instructions

Use a short section of double-sided tape to mount the gyro to the aircraft's fuselage. Peel the backing off one side of the tape, then press it to the back of the gyro. Peel the second side of the tape, then mount it in a location that orients the bottom of the gyro perpendicular to the vertical shaft of the main rotor.

Plug the rudder input connector (which has three wires) into the rudder (RUD) channel of the receiver -- in most cases, this is channel 4. The rudder input has a fourth wire that leads tangent to it. It is called the sensitivity switching connector. Plug the sensitivity switching connector into the fifth channel of the receiver, also known as the sensitivity switching channel.

Connect the rudder servo connector into the servo responsible for controlling the rudder. This is also a triple-wire connector.
