How to Use a Trainer Cord With a DX6

The DX6 is a 6-channel radio transmitter manufactured by Spektrum RC. This complex radio-control (RC) system is often employed for fully functional, 3D capable RC helicopters. Since piloting one of these complex machines is exceptionally difficult, the DX6 is equipped with a training system. Learning how to use the trainer cord with your DX6 ensures you speed up the overall learning process.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn over your DX6 and look for the trainer cord input, it is located on the backside of the transmitter to the right of the battery compartment. Plug in the trainer cord into this socket.

    • 2

Plug the other end of the trainer cord into the trainer-cord input of the other controller. Match all the settings between the two radios -- i.e. servo reversals and collective pitch settings.

    • 3

Turn on the master transmitter while the trainee transmitter is off. Test the functionality of the master transmitter by moving the joysticks while the helicopter is powered on.

    • 4

Turn on the trainee transmitter and then press the trainer button -- located on the top right corner on the front face of the transmitter -- to engage the trainee. Check that the trainee transmitter can functionally control the helicopter.

    • 5

Use the trainee transmitter to fly the helicopter. In the event of an error, press the trainee button on the master transmitter to engage the master radio and correct the error.
