How to Fly RC Airplanes Online

Radio controlled, or RC, flight simulators are an ideal way for novice pilots to enter the world of RC aviation and get accustomed to the basic set of controls that all aircraft use to fly. Flying online offers several advantages over flying an actual model at a field. You can practice controlling a huge variety of models from the comfort of your own home, regardless of weather condition or time of day. In the real world, a lapse in concentration can quickly end in an expensive crash; a flight simulation offers a handy reset button that allows beginners a chance to hone their skills with any type of flying, such as sport, three-dimensional, scale, etc., without an expensive and time-consuming model repair.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch your flight simulation software, choose the type of aircraft you wish to fly and the location.

    • 2

Slowly advance the throttle located on the left stick of the transmitter and pull up to start a positive climb or "pitch" by gently by moving the right stick down.

    • 3

Begin a turn to keep the model within a safe distance. Move the right-hand control stick to the left to make the model roll left and use some up-elevator to maintain a smooth and steady line at a constant altitude.

    • 4

Lower the left stick to reduce power and use the rudder (accessed by moving the stick left and right) to slightly turn the plane so that it's aligned with the runway. Pull up slightly to attain a smooth landing when you're about to touch down.
