How to Align a GP750 Gyro

The gyro is a life-saver when it comes to radio-controlled (RC) flying. This small device is responsible for maintaing stability during flight, which is a great feature for novice pilots. While not all helicopters are equipped with gyros, those that are require them to be calibrated for proper functionality. Learn how to align your GP750 gyro to ensure a flawless flight.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the gyro into the battery, then turn it on. The green status light on the top left corner should illuminate, indicating that it is on. Push and hold the SET button on the top right corner of the device until the status LED flashes above 1570/760 (printed on the face of the gyro).

    • 2

Turn on your transmitter, then move the left joystick left or right and watch the status LED change between red and green. Green means 1520us, while red indicates 760us. These figures refer to the rate of reaction experienced by the rudder (with 1520 being quicker). Hold the joystick in the direction you wish to set the rate, then press the SET button to establish this setting.

    • 3

Move the left joystick either left or right to determine the DS/AS setting. This is meant to identify the type of servo you are using in your helicopter. If you have a digital servo, hold the joystick to illuminate the Green status LED; if you're using an analoge servo, hold the joystick to illuminate a red LED. Press the SET button to establish this setting.

    • 4

Move the left joystick left or right to determine the NOR/REV setting. This will establish whether the system functions in normal mode, or if it needs to be reversed. Move the joystick to change between green LED (for normal) and red LED (for reverse). Set it to normal, then press the SET button to establish this setting.

    • 5

Move the left (rudder) joystick and watch the movement of the tail's pitch travel. Move the joystick to test the range of the tail's pitch slider, then press the SET button when the slider is positioned at its maximum pitch value.

    • 6

Move the left joystick to determine the delay. Move the joystick to turn from green LED (for large helicopters) to red LED (for small helicopters). Refer to your manual to establish a good delay value that correlates with your skill level as a pilot.
