Altitrak Altitude Finder Instructions

For anyone who ever built model rockets, or for those who do and want to know how high the rocket went, the Estes Altitrak Altitude Finder fills the bill. The device is a straightforward handheld device that looks like a toy pistol. A calibrated triangle with an altitude scale falls according to the followed arc of the in-air rocket. Use the device on launch day to find out what rocket went highest.

Instructions

    • 1

Set up the rocket and launch pad and keep a safe distance during ignition. Pull and hold the trigger. Launch the rocket.

    • 2

Begin raising the Altitrak and follow the rocket as it rises. Look through the Atitrak's crosshair site and keep the rocket in the center of the crosshair. Allow the altitude-finding triangle to dangle along the semi-circular scale that is positioned at the front of the Altitrak.

    • 3

Release the trigger to lock in the altitude reading when the rocket reaches its apex. This is normally when the parachute deploys from the rocket. Note the altitude on the scale at the apex as this is the highest point the rocket reached during its flight.

    • 4

Reset the Altitrak for the next rocket by pushing the triangle up to the barrel.
