Learjet 40 XR
The Bombardier Learjet 40 XR is a seven-passenger business jet flown by a two-person crew. It's powered by twin Honeywell TFE731-20-BR turbofan jet engines that generate 3,500 pounds of thrust. The 40 XR cruises at 45,000 feet at 535 miles per hour and has a range with all seats of full of 1,552 nautical miles. It has a wingspan of 47 feet and an interior cabin floor area of 57 feet. The 40 XR's electronic flight instrument system presents flight data on four large glass displays in the cockpit. Avionics include color radar, a traffic collision avoidance system and an enhanced ground proximity warning system.
Learjet 45 XR
The Learjet 45 XR is an expanded version of the 40 XR. With a climb rate to 43,000 feet in less than 25 minutes, the Learjet 45 XR cruises at speeds equivalent to the 40XR. Engine and avionics are the same in these two models; however, the 45 XR provides seating for eight with a wider, longer fuselage. Despite being 500 pounds heavier than the 40 XR, its total range is only 20 miles less.
Learjet 60 XR
With eight-passenger seating and intercontinental range, the 60 XR is Bombardier's best-selling Learjet model. It features twin, 4,600-pound thrust Pratt &Whitney PW305A turbofans. These powerplants achieve climb-to-cruise in five minutes less than the 40 XR and 45 XR. Rockwell's Proline LCD avionics dominate the cockpit display and include a digitized engine indication system. Cabin size is expanded in all dimensions over the 40 XR and 45 XR.
Learjet 85
Bombardier's Learjet 85 represents a step forward in materials technology. Constructed primarily of non-metallic composite plastics, the 85's structure is a "clean sheet" design from the ground up. Twin Pratt &Whitney PW307As provide 6,100 pounds of thrust and a long-range cruise speed of 515 miles per hour. Cockpit avionics are a Rockwell Collins ProLine Fusion suite with three 15.1-inch LCD displays. With a cabin length exceeding the 60 XR by almost 8 feet and the total cabin volume increased by over 25 percent, the 85 is also the top of the Learjet line in comfort for its standard eight-passenger seating. Total range is upped nearly a third over the 60 XR, to just over 3,000 nautical miles.
