Dynam 6Ch RC Helicopter Airplane Flight Simulator Instructions

Learning to fly a new remote-controlled airplane or helicopter can be a difficult and expensive experience. Those first few flights are likely to end with crash landings and broken parts before you get the hang of the controls and the flight physics of your model. You can reduce the number of inadvertent landings though, by practicing with a flight simulator before your first takeoff. With Dynam's six-channel RD simulator you can get hands-on experience with a radio transmitter replica using your PC. The Dynam unit allows you to control virtual planes with the same flight characteristics as the actual model, allowing you to concentrate on the areas where you're lacking experience and reduce the expense associated with the RC learning curve.

Things You'll Need

  • Dynam six-channel USB controller
  • FMS flight simulator
  • PC
  • Windows ME or higher

Install the simulator software included with the USB controller onto your computer by placing the CD into your CD-ROM drive and allowing your computer to autoplay the disc. If autoplay fails to start, then open your Windows Explorer by pressing the "Start" button on the toolbar and selecting "All Programs." Choose "Accessories" from the programs submenu and then click on "Windows Explorer." Use Windows Explorer to browse to your CD-ROM drive and locate the file named "fmsbeta70" on the disc. Double-click on the file to start the simulator installation.

    • 2

Follow the simulator installation instructions. Choose a language from the language list and then click the "Next" button to continue. Read through the conditions for use, and if you agree to abide by them, click the "Next" button at the bottom of the window. Pick an installation location, click "Next" and wait for the simulator files to install to your hard drive. Click "Finish" to end the installation and launch the program.

    • 3

Plug the USB plug from your remote control into a free USB port on your computer.

    • 4

Launch the installed simulator application. Select the "Controls" option from the main menu at the top of the simulator screen and then select "Analog control" to launch the control setup window. Select "Joystick interface" from the pull-down window then press the button marked "Mapping/Calibration." Move the trim controllers on the remote control to the center position, then follow the calibration program instructions to calibrate your remote control for use with the simulator. Consult the controller manual for the channel settings appropriate for your simulator use, as the settings differ if using the simulator as an airplane sim or a helicopter sim.

Press "OK" to exit the calibration menu. Upon exit, you'll immediately be in control of a plane on the runway, ready to takeoff. Use the RC controller as you would with an actual remote-controlled airplane to control the simulated airplane on your computer screen.
