How to Make a Model Airplane Using Nitro Fuel

Nitro fuel, also known as nitromethane, is a power additive to the RC engine. This fuel gives the engine, thus the aircraft, extra power for loops, barrel rolls and hammerhead stalls -- all trick maneuvers. Use nitro with your previously constructed aircraft model, providing the engine accepts the nitro fuel.

Things You'll Need

  • RC airplane nitro engine
  • Nitro fuel
  • Funnel hose

Instructions

    • 1

Consult your RC aircraft engine manual to see if it accepts nitro fuel. If not, remove the engine from the RC aircraft and install a nitro-based engine.

    • 2

Attach the funnel hose to the nozzle on the nitro fuel canister and the other end of the hose to the engine intake valve.

    • 3

Squirt the fuel into the engine until the hose fills with backwash fuel. Detach the hose and seal the engine cap.

    • 4

Power the aircraft with the nitro fuel and take off. Upon execution of tricks, push the throttle position all the way to power the nitro boost in the RC aircraft engine.

    • 5

Throttle back upon successful execution of the aircraft trick.
