Instructions
Use a 3-inch paint brush to apply the poly primer to the fabric. Apply the primer until the poly fabric looks wet and the weave of the fabric appears smooth without any pinholes. This primer seals the fabric and creates a surface to which the paint can stick. Allow the primer to dry completely for 12 hours.
Examine the fabric for pinholes. Use an iron heated to 240 degrees to warm the area where the pinhole is located and smooth the pinhole.
Use 400 grit wet/dry sand paper to lightly sand the primed material. Do not over sand an area as it is possible to create a hole in the fabric. The surface will appear smoother after sanding.
Apply the first coat of paint with an HVLP spray gun that is connected to 115 volt air compressor. Apply the paint to the fabric in even coats and allow the paint to dry for 24 hours.
Use 400 grit wet/dry sandpaper to wet sand the painted area once it has dried completely. Do not to over sand. The goal is to simply remove the rough feeling of the paint.
Clean the sanded area with an acrylic cleaner and allow the area to dry. The cleaner will remove any dust created from the sanding and prepare the area for the next coat.
Apply the next layer of paint to the poly fiber. At least two coats of paint need to be applied to the plane. The paint should be sanded after each layer of paint.
Spray the dry painted surface with Poly Spray, which contains UV blockers to help protect the color and integrity of the paint. This requires three cross coats.
