How to Use a Hot Glue Gun on Balsa RC Airplanes

Remote control airplanes made of balsa wood are fragile and often do not fare well in crashes. If you are constructing a balsa plane or are attempting to repair one that has been damaged, you can secure key components with a bit of hot glue. Hot glue guns can provide a quick fix to relatively minor breaks.

      Plug the hot glue gun into a working outlet and insert the glue stick. Try to use glue with the lowest possible melting temperature to protect the balsa.

      Apply a small amount of hot glue to the area of the plane that needs to be repaired or attached.

      Spread the glue with a Popsicle stick to even out the application.

    • 4

      Press and hold the component you wish to attach into the hot glue. When the glue cools, the part should be securely fastened.
