Piper Tomahawk Specs

The Piper Tomahawk was designed as an inexpensive two seat training aircraft. It was initially delivered in 1978. Piper sold more than 1,000 units of the plane in its first year of production alone. The Tomahawk was economical to operate but was saddled with airworthiness problems in its first few years of use. Piper ceased production of the Tomahawk in 1983.

    • The Tomahawk has a maximum speed of 109 knots, a maximum cruising speed of 108 knots and a normal cruising speed of 100 knots. It can climb at a rate of 718 feet per minute. The plane has a maximum service ceiling of 13,000 feet and can fly up to 468 nautical miles on a single tank of fuel.

    • The Tomahawk has an empty weight of 1,128 lbs. and a maximum takeoff weight of 1,670 lbs. It has a 34-foot wingspan, is 23 feet 1 inches long and 9 feet 1 inch tall. The Tomahawk's total wing area covers 124.7 square feet. The plane can carry up to two passengers.
