Jabiru 2200 Aircraft Engine Specs

The Jabiru 2200 is a four-cylinder, four-stroke engine designed for use in small light aircraft. It can be used in either tractor or pusher aircraft, meaning that it can drive both front- and rear-facing propellers. Jabiru USA Sport Aircraft designs this engine to fit in a number of different planes and to be a good replacement for the popular Rotax 582 two-cylinder engine.
  1. Dimensions

    • The Jabiru 2200 is 22.91 inches wide, 22.12 inches long and 17.54 inches tall. It is an extremely light engine, weighing only 132 pounds with supporting items such as a starter motor, exhaust and ignition system attached.

    Engine Specifications

    • The Jabiru 2200 has a 2.2 liter displacement, cylinder bore of 97.5 millimeters and piston stroke of 74 millimeters. It operates at an eight-to-one compression ratio, and its four cylinders have a firing order of 1-3-2-4. The engine provides direct clockwise rotation to the propeller from the pilot's view when installed in a tractor configuration. It generates 85 horsepower at 3300 revolutions per minute.

    Fuel and Oil

    • At full power, the 2200 consumes a maximum of 21 liters, or 5.54 gallons, of fuel per hour. It can run on 100LL or 100/130 AvGas aviation fuel or on gasoline with an octane rating of 95 RON or higher, which corresponds to 91 octane in the United States. It also holds 2.3 quarts of 15W-50 multigrade Aero Oil W or a suitable equivalent and consumes no more than 0.1 liters of it per hour at maximum power.

    Electrical Components

    • Jabiru equips the 2200 with an electric starter motor and a magneto-based ignition system. It also has a 20-amp alternating-current generator. The engine's four spark plugs are NGK D9EA units which are designed for automotive applications.
