Piper Cub Associations

The Piper Cub airplane refers to several J-model planes built by the Piper Aircraft Co. between 1938 and 1947, as well as the PA-11, PA-12, PA-14 and the PA-18 "Top Cub" that is in production today. Though Piper manufactured a line of PA-model aircraft descending from the PA-15 Vagabond, most Cub enthusiasts do not consider these true Cubs because they are fundamentally different aircraft from the Cub line. The derivatives have a 6-foot shorter wingspan, side-by-side seating and rigid landing gear. The three big Piper associations are headquartered in Wisconsin, and offer primarily online benefits rather than membership meetings. One of the three is devoted specifically to the Cub models.
  1. The Cub Club

    • The Cub Club is based in Hartford, Wisconsin, and is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of all Piper aircraft considered to be Cubs. These include the E-2, J-2, J-3, J-5, L-4, HE-1, PA-11, PA-12, PA-14 and PA-18. Membership benefits include the "Cub Clues" newsletter, technical manuals and blueprints for purchase, technical assistance from volunteer Cub consultants and access to a list of tailwheel aircraft instructors and mechanics in North America. The Cub Club offers forums at three major fly-ins in the U.S.: Sentimental Journey in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, Sun 'n' Fun in Lakeland, Florida, and EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

    Piper Owner Society

    • The Piper Owner Society, an organization for owners of all Piper aircraft, is based in Iona, Wisconsin. Features of its online memberships include access to the club forums, a monthly newsletter, unlimited parts searches, email technical support and discounts to the Gateway to Oshkosh fly-in, a precursor to the annual EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh.

    Piper Flyer Association

    • Based in Waupaca, Wisconsin, the Piper Flyer Association is an online-based association for Piper aircraft owners and enthusiasts. Member benefits include a monthly magazine, referral service, pre-buy assistance, seminars, special offers from manufacturers, nationwide fly-ins, pilot proficiency programs and annual member gatherings. The Piper Flyer Association website also features online forums and aviation links.
