Cessna Caravan Performance

Cessna's 208 Caravan I is a 52-foot-long cargo, 1980s-era aircraft popular with air-freight companies. Cessna succeeded it in the 1990s with several modified, more powerful, versions: the Cargomaster, Super Cargomaster, Grand Caravan and 208-675. Altogether, Cessna has sold more than 1,000 aircraft from the Caravan family.
  1. Cruise

    • The 208 Caravan's single 600 shaft-horsepower Pratt &Whitney Canada PT6A-114 engine drives a three-blade propeller. Its power allows a maximum airspeed in cruise of 184 knots, or about 211 mph.

    Climb Rate

    • Initial rate of climb is how quickly an airplane climbs after takeoff. It is an important number to pilots when the aircraft must clear an obstacle close to the airfield or quickly reach a mandatory altitude. For the Cessna Caravan, you can expect 1,215 feet per minute on initial departure.

    Range

    • Fuel capacity and engine efficiency determine an aircraft's maximum range. Additionally, regulations require pilots to keep a certain amount of fuel in reserve in case of emergency. The Cessna 208's maximum range, without using its reserves, is up to 1,115 nautical miles, or about 1283 statute miles.
