How to Perform a Barrel Roll With an RC Plane

Remote control aircraft can emulate almost any maneuver that can be performed by full size aircraft, with almost none of the risk. Once you have mastered the basic controls for flight, you may wish to start attempting aerobatic stunts. One of the most basic maneuvers is a barrel roll, where the plane rolls over in line with its direction of flight and rights itself again. Mastering this technique first will also help you complete more advanced maneuvers later.

     Fly straight and level at a moderate speed.

     Apply a small amount of up elevator, and left or right rudder or aileron control.

   • 3

     Adjust the elevator control as the plane rolls over and inverts. You may apply a small amount of down elevator control while the plane is inverted to maintain altitude.

     Return the controls to neutral as the plane completes the roll.
