The Lancair 360 is a two-person aircraft that can be assembled by the purchaser. The price for the kit is $71,500 for a plane with retractable landing gear or $57,500 for a plane with fixed landing gear. Lancair offers a builder's assist program where the builder can travel to the Lancair facility to have the assistance of experts for the first stages of construction. The cost for two weeks of this program is $8,000.

    • The length of the Lancair 360 is 22 feet. The wingspan is 25.5 feet and the wing area is 82.5 square feet. The empty weight of the Lancair 360 is 1,500 lbs. and the gross weight is 2,200 lbs. It can carry up to 700 lbs., with a 90-lb. luggage capacity. The plane can withstand a positive g-force of 4.4 and a negative force of 2.2.

    Engine

    • There are two engine options, the Continental IO-550-N or the Lycoming IO-540. The Continental engine has 310 horsepower at 2,700 rpm. The Lycoming engine has 260 horsepower at 2,700 rpm. These engines power a three-blade propeller that runs at constant speed.

    Performance

    • The typical cruising altitude of the Lancair 360 is 8,000 feet at 276 mph. The takeoff distance is 850 feet and the landing distance is 900 feet. The Lancair 360 consumes 13.5 to 15 gallons per hour with a range of 1,150 miles at 8,000 feet. The plane will climb at 2,700 feet per minute and can climb up to a maximum altitude of 18,000 feet.

    Cockpit

    • The cockpit contains two seats. The cockpit length is 63 inches, the height is 44.5 inches and the width is 43.5 inches.
