Engine
The Hatz CB-1 is powered by a nose-mounted Continental O-200 four-cylinder aircraft engine. The horizontally opposed, four-stroke, 201 cubic-inch motor was built by Teledyne Continental Motors. It has a bore of 4.06 inches and a stroke of 3.88 inches, with a compression ratio of 7 to 1. It has hydraulic lifters, an updraft carburetor and runs on 80/87 avgas.
Performance
The 100 horsepower, 2,750-rpm engine gives the Hatz a cruising speed of 85 miles per hour (mph) and a top speed of 105 mph, creating G-forces of five positive and three negative. It climbs at 700 feet per minute and has a landing speed of 45 mph, a stall speed of 38 mph and a service ceiling of 12,000 feet.
