Flight Simulator
Those who don't have experience flying a single rotor RC helicopter like the Sabre would be well served by practicing with an RC flight simulator first to get the feel of flying it. These simulators are computer programs that simulate as closely as possible real life flying.
Batteries
NiMH batteries for the Sabre RC helicopter should be cycled a few times before being used for flight. They typically do not provide full performance after the initial charge and perform best after being cycled a few times.
Take Offs
A Sabre RC helicopter lifts off better with a more aggressive throttle. A timid, slow throttle results in unsteady lift. It's recommended to lift off from a hard surface. Grass may get tangled up in the skids in a take off from turf.
Small Stick Movements
The Sabre RC helicopter requires small stick movements on the transmitter for proper handling. Beginners commonly move the stick too much, resulting in erratic flight. To prevent this, beginners may want to move the control rods on the servo arms from the outer to the inner holes. This helps lessen the effects of big stick movements. The control rods may be moved back to the outer holes once the beginner improves his skills.
