How to Desensitize an RC Helicopter for Beginners

Flying RC helicopters takes some serious practice. If you're expecting a novice pilot on the controls, you might want to consider installing a training kit. Modifying your helicopter with a trainer will make the aircraft much easier for the inexperienced to fly.

Instructions

  1. Construct the Trainer

    • 1

Install the four rods into the center hub (usually a disk-shaped piece of plastic with four holes in it). Press them all firmly in to ensure that the device is balanced properly.

    • 2

Insert each end of the four rods into four identical soft balls. In most cases, kits will come with Styrofoam or plastic balls. The larger the balls, the easier it will be to pilot the aircraft.

    • 3

Mount the center hub directly beneath the helicopter's body, centered between the landing skids. Check that the training mechanism is properly constructed, then touch each joint with a spot of superglue to prevent any in-flight disconnections.

    • 4

Fly the helicopter. Piloting the aircraft will be easier for beginners.
