Making the Glider
Lay the sheet of paper on the flat surface so that the longer side of the paper is toward you.
Fold the paper in half the long way and lay the paper down with the folded side toward you.
Take the top layer of the upper left corner and bring it down so that the side edge lines up with the long folded edge of the paper. Crease the fold by running your thumbnail along the fold.
Turn the paper over and lay it down with the long folded edge toward you. Fold down the upper right corner so that the side edge lines up with the long folded edge. Crease the fold. Your paper should now look like a triangle to the right of a rectangle.
Fold down the top layer of the upper right corner of the rectangle until the folded edge of the triangle lines up with the long folded edge of the paper. Crease the fold.
Turn the paper over and lay it down with the long folded edge toward you. The triangle should now point left. Fold down the upper left corner of the rectangle until the folded edge of the triangle lines up with the long folded edge of the paper. Crease the fold. Your paper now looks like a very long triangle to the left of a long, skinny rectangle. There are folded edges along the top of the triangle.
Fold down the top layer of the upper edge of the triangle until it meets the long folded edge of the paper. Crease the edge.
Turn the paper over and lay it down with the long folded edge toward you. The triangle should now point right. Fold down the top layer of the upper edge of the triangle until it meets the long folded edge of the paper. Crease the edge.
Pick up the paper so that the long folded edge of the paper is toward you. Notice that there are five layers of paper at one side of the glider. Grasp the middle three layers in one hand. With the other hand, open the outer layers until they form a flat surface. Your glider is now complete.
Flying the Glider
Hold the glider between your thumb and the first two fingers of your right hand if you're right handed or between the thumb and first two fingers of your left hand if you're left handed.
Bring your arm up so that your upper arm makes a right angle with your body and your lower arm makes a right angle with your upper arm.
Pull your lower arm back slightly.
Keeping your wrist steady, quickly bring your upper arm forward while releasing your hold on the glider. If done properly, the glider will fly.
