How to Change Address on FAA Pilot License

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires pilots, flight instructors and ground instructors to provide notification of change in permanent mailing address within 30 days of the change. The certificate holder cannot exercise her privileges under the certificate unless this notification has been provided in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulation Section 61.60. The FAA does not issue a replacement certificate on the basis of address change alone.

Instructions

    • 1

Prepare a written request for change of permanent address. The request needs to include your name, date of birth, Social Security number or FAA certificate number, and your new address. A post office box cannot be used as a permanent residence address. You can use a P.O. box as a mailing address, but still must provide a physical address as your permanent address. If your permanent address is not specific, such as a rural route or general delivery address, then provide either directions or a map indicating the specific location of your permanent residence.

Sign and mail your request. All mailed requests for change of permanent address must be signed by the certificate holder. Mail your request to:
      Federal Aviation Administration
      Airmen Certification Branch, AFS-760
      P.O. Box 25082
      Oklahoma City, OK 73125

As an alternative you can change your permanent address online. To change your permanent address online you need to be registered with the FAA's Airmen Online Services.
