How to Make a Wood Bird Caller

Bird calls are special noise-making devices designed to imitate the chirps and calls of various birds. They are used in hunting to attract game prey, or in birdwatching to attract specimens for photographing. You can make a very simple bird call out of wood without the need for any turning or carving.

Things You'll Need

  • Spring-type wooden clothespin
  • Size 33 rubber band
  • Electrical tape

Instructions

    • 1

Dissemble a wooden clothespin. Discard the spring.

    • 2

Wrap electrical tape around each end of both halves of the wooden clothespin several times.

    • 3

Place one half of the clothespin, lengthwise, within the rubber band.

    • 4

Press the two halves of the pin together, back-to-back with the flat sides in, to trap the band between them.

    • 5

Hold the halves together with one hand. Give the rubber band one half twist to double it before stretching it around both halves of the dissembled clothespins.
