Things You'll Need
Instructions
Create a runway of orange halves to attract orioles to your property. Place 6 to 12 orange halves in a line on your fence or on tops of bushes and plants that are about 3 or 4 feet high. Leave the oranges in place, replenishing when necessary, for one week.
Once you have observed orioles feeding on your oranges, remove the oranges from your fence and build an oriole feeder in your yard. Cut a wooden dowel rod so that it measures 5 to 6 feet tall. Dig a hole in the ground where you want to place the feeder. Bury the dowel rod about 8 inches deep into the ground. Cover up the hole with soil and pack it down.
Place a layer of super glue or wood glue along the top of the dowel rod. Press an orange glass dish about 6 inches in diameter on top of the dowel rod, holding it in place for 3 to 5 minutes while the glue hardens.
Cut orange halves and place them in the dish along with 5 to 6 tablespoons of grape jelly. Wait for orioles to arrive. Replenish the dish often to ensure a steady stream of orioles stopping by your property.
