How to Make a Goose Blind

Geese are paranoid creatures that generally stray from anything suspiciously human, so it is important to build a goose blind that will help you remain inconspicuous when planning to go goose hunting. An effective goose blind does not have to be fancy or cost a lot of money. These few materials provide a great basis for a simple and inexpensive do-it-yourself goose blind.

  • 12 yards of woven fencing wire
  • Plywood

Instructions

    • 1

Use an ax to sharpen the ends of all six of the fence posts so that they will remain secure when forced into the ground.

    • 2

Form a rectangle by forcing three of the sharpened posts into the ground, with the help of your hammer, about four feet apart from each other. Then, force the remaining three into the ground about 4 feet behind the first line of posts.

    • 3

Measure and mark each post at 4 feet, then use your chainsaw to cut them. After each post is 4 feet tall, begin wrapping it in woven fencing wire. Keep the fencing wire secured to the posts using nails and black cable ties. Make sure you leave one side open, in order to enter and exit your blind.

    • 4

Use your saw to cut down small trees and brush from surrounding woods, then attach it to your blind with more black cable ties, covering the fencing wire entirely.

    • 5

Measure the perimeter of the inside of your blind and cut a 1/2-inch thick piece of plywood to match the measurements. This plywood will serve as sturdy ground, making hunting easier and more comfortable.
