Things You'll Need
Instructions
Purchase a hummingbird feeder, which are designed to accommodate the fast-moving birds. Choose one with a perch if you want to glimpse them while they are still, and find one with red on it, because hummingbirds seem to be attracted to the color. Pick a feeder that is easy to clean and fill.
Keep the feeder filled with nectar. Make your own by boiling 1 cup sugar and 4 cups water in a pot on the stove. Allow the mixture to boil for five minutes, stirring regularly, then let it cool completely.
Fill the hummingbird feeder with the sugar water. Place any excess in the refrigerator. You will need to use the sugar water within a week.
Hang your hummingbird feeder outside in a location visible to you from the house. Clean and refill the nectar regularly, at least once a week.
