Decide on the piping system you want to use for your automated watering system for birds. You can buy either a flex tube system or a PVC piping system.
Determine what kind of birds you will be using the automated watering system for. For large birds you will need a parrot valve. For poultry you will need a cup waterer and for little birds you will need a vari-flo valve.
Attach the drinking valves to the cage. The birds must be able to reach it easily without having to go near the nesting area.
Place the lateral lines as horizontal as you can without crossing obstacles. The lateral lines must be laid out and have a drain valve at each end. Push out all the air in the lines before the first use by opening up the valves.
Locate a water supply that is in a central location to make sure the water pressure balances. This is especially crucial if you have a large facility with long runs of piping in the automated watering system.
