How to Build a Bird Bath from a Flower Pot

Bird watching is a popular hobby among many people all over the world. Watching, feeding, and providing housing for wild birds provides hours of joy to almost anybody. There are several ways to create a habitat for your bird right in your own front or back yard. By finding old materials around the home or purchasing cheap accessories, it's easy to create items that will attract birds to your home. Most birds enjoy having bird baths and bird feeders that they can go to A cheap and simple way to create a bird bath for your home is by using a flowerpot. All birds will enjoy bathing in their simple pools right in your own yard.

  • Medium or large size flower pot with lid
  • Patio paints (optional)

      Find an old flowerpot that you don't use anymore. Make sure that it has a lid on the bottom. If you don't have an old flowerpot, you could also purchase one at your nearby greenhouse, or at a chain store such as Wal-Mart.

      Search for a place in your yard where the bird bath could be placed. Place it at a nearby tree, or somewhere where you have a birdfeeder.

      Take the lid from the bottom of the flower pot and fill it with water. Then take the flower pot and place it upside down in the ground.

      Place the flower pot lid on top of the flower pot.

      Keep it filled with fresh water daily.

      Go sit somewhere away from the flower pot bird bath and watch all of the birds who come by and enjoy their new "pool."
