European sources of aquamarine range from northern and central Europe to the United Kingdom. It can be found in Austria, the Czech Republic, France, Bulgaria, Finland, Italy, Norway, Germany, Portugal, Switzerland, Russia, Spain, Ukraine and Northern Ireland.

People have found aquamarine from the southern to the northern part of the African continent. Countries where known sources of aquamarine are located include Kenya, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Madagascar, Zambia, Nigeria, Malawi, Somaliland, Mozambique and Tanzania.

In Southwest Asia, aquamarine is located in eastern and northeastern Afghanistan.

Aquamarine is found in 25 states across the United States.One notable location for aquamarine is northeastern North Carolina. Aquamarine is located also found in Baja California Norte in Mexico.
