Things You'll Need
Instructions
Assess what kind of geo gem stone you will be cleaning. Non-porous gems, such as rubies, garnets, and sapphires, will need different care than porous pieces, like lapus lazuli, turquoise and coral.
Clean the geo gem stone with a soft, dry cloth. Polish using small, swift circles over the whole surface of the stone to remove fingerprints and surface dust. This technique can be used on any kind of stone, whether porous or non-porous.
Complete this step if the soft, dry cloth does not remove the excess grime, and only use this step on non-porous gems. Clean the geo gem stone in a bowl of warm water with a small amount of liquid dish detergent. Let the gem soak for a few minutes or for up to a few hours. At this point, you can use a very soft brush to gently remove any debris or grime left on the gem stone.
Pat dry gently, using a soft, dry cloth.
