Things You'll Need
Instructions
Put on safety goggles. Fit the electric drill with a diamond burr. The diamond burr will make a small indent in the cabochon so it is easier to start the hole. Dip the stone in cool water frequently during the drilling process. Drill slowly with even pressure, and keep the stone wet at all times. Always take extra safety precautions with electricity and water.
After making the initial dent with the diamond burr, switch to the diamond bit in the electric drill. Remember to keep the stone wet at all times. Use the wire drill with light pressure. Make smooth continuous up and down motions until you are through the rock.
Use caution when you are almost through so you don't chip the stone when the diamond bit comes through the other side. You may wish to drill from the bottom side when you are just about through to avoid chipping the back of the stone.
