How to Get Geocaches on CacheBerry

Geocaching with a BlackBerry device has become efficient and convenient with the development and improvement of specialized software. Software developer Zita Farm Limited created and continues to improve CacheSense, a geocaching program originally named CacheBerry. The software is exclusively for use on BlackBerry devices with internal GPS receivers. It imports files obtained from Geocaching.com and allows users to browse and search for nearby caches.

Instructions

    • 1

Download and install the CacheSense program. From the software developer's website, click the "Download" tab at the top of the screen and follow the instructions to install the app on your BlackBerry device.

    • 2

Generate Pocket Queries. From the "Hide &Seek a Cache" section of Geocaching.com, click the links to generate a Pocket Query file containing all the active geocaches that meet your specific criteria. Customize the list based on your preferred size, difficulty, terrain, location and other available filters.

    • 3

Import the Pocket Query to your BlackBerry. Once your Pocket Query is generated, move that file to your mobile device via email, memory card, USB data cable, or whatever other means are available and accessible to you.

    • 4

Start the CacheSense program. Select the installed program folder on your device and tap the CacheSense icon to initiate the software. Wait for the app to load and the internal GPS receiver to detect enough satellites to accurately pinpoint your position.

    • 5

Arrange the geocaches in your list. From the CacheSense main screen, tap the "Sort" button, followed by "Sort by Location" and then "GPS Location." The software will re-arrange the caches in your list based on the nearest to your present position.

    • 6

Select a geocache. From the available nearby cache locations, choose the one you want to find and tap that list entry. The following screen displays the specific details of that geocache, including the actual GPS coordinates of the container, the owner's description and hints, comments from other players, and other information that may assist you in finding the secret location.
