Things You'll Need
Instructions
Look for the geocache's logbook inside the cache. The logbook will vary from cache to cache, and it may appear as a formal logbook or a notebook. It also may be enclosed in some sort of waterproof casing.
Write down your name, the date and the condition of the cache in the logbook. Ideally, the entries should be in order of date, but should there be discrepancies, maintain order by logging your information in the space directly below the geocache's last visitor.
Check online when you get home to see if a virtual logbook is available on the geocache's post. Some cache owners provide a virtual logbook as a way to keep an eye on their caches without physically visiting the cache site.
Fill out the appropriate fields in the virtual logbook, which may include your name, date visited and what you found in the cache. There may also be a section for you to leave comments about the condition of the cache. Some cache owners like participants to answer a few questions about the cache to verify that the cache was actually visited.
Send an email to the cache owner. Many cache owners enjoy hearing from participants, as it gives them the drive to continue geocaching. You can thank them for maintaining the cache, suggest small maintenance tips and offer words of encouragement for future caches.
