How to Control the IC-706 With the NHRC-10 Controller

The Icom 706 transceiver is used by rescue, emergency, ambulance and law enforcement branches. This tranceiver broadcasts out on available UHF frequencies in a prescribed broadcast area. To boost the receiver/transmitter range on the Icom, a repeater is required. The NHRC-10 is a repeater that works with Icom radios, and provides a stronger broadcast and receiver ability to the Icom IC-760 in the broadcast region. To control the Icom, both units must be in tune to each other.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the power to both the Icom IC-760 and the NHRC-10. After turning on the NHRC-10, check that the signal levels are coming in at between 2.0 and 16.0 volts.

    • 2

Connect one of the male DB-9 connectors, included with the NHRC-10 kit, into the IC-706 Connector Pin-Out, found on the back side of the Icom radio.

    • 3

Plug the NHRC-10 J6 CTRL RX mini-mic plug into the Icom IC-760 jack.

    • 4

Tune both NHRC-10 and IC-760 units to the same broadcast frequency and double-click the Icom IC-760 microphone. Have a friend on another Icom radio, tuned into the IC-760 and NHRC-10 frequency, listen to the speaker for the double-click, indicating the IC-760 is being controlled and run through the NHRC-10, increasing broadcasting ability for the radios.
