How to Get Sponsored for CR Audio

Community radio (or CR) is an alternative to commercial radio. Community radio is a not-for-profit operation that caters to the interests of the local community. Community radio typically offers audio programs that are not heard on commercial radio stations. In addition, community radio does not receive paid advertisements but relies on financial support from other sources such as sponsorships. Securing sponsors helps generate revenue and offsets the cost of operating a community radio station or audio program.

Instructions

    • 1

Prepare a sponsorship package. Include your sponsorship rates, types of sponsorships, listener demographics, radio coverage area, benefits of sponsorship and the procedures for becoming a sponsor.

    • 2

Make an announcement on your CR audio program. Mention that you are seeking sponsors. Someone listening to your program might be interested in sponsoring your program or knows someone who might be interested in a sponsorship.

    • 3

Utilize social networks like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube or LinkedIn. Post an announcement, video or flyer letting people in your network know that you are seeking sponsors. Include a link to your sponsorship package so potential sponsor can learn more about your program and the benefits of sponsorship.

    • 4

Contact local business and organizations. Focus on businesses and organizations that cater to customers that are similar to your listening audience. For instance, if your CR audio program is about organic gardening contact health food stores, fitness clubs or farmers' market association.
